European Region of Gastronomy 2017

The City of Aarhus and Central Denmark Region has been awarded with the title of European Region of Gastronomy in 2017 under the theme 'Rethinking Good Food'. The title has been awarded to the city and the region as a recognition of the flourishing and thriving food culture, gastronomy and products that are being rethought and developed across the region.

The year of gastronomy will, in a program filled with events and activities, function as a tribute to and celebration of good food and all that comes with it.

The theme 'Rethinking Good Food' is all about showing the world and reminding ourself about our ability to innovate, improve and refine the food on our plate. As long as we keep reminding ourselves about rethinking good food, our minds will automatically also think sustainable, socially and cross-nationally.

Food Organisation of Denmark serves as secretariat for the European Region Gastronomy in 2017 in cooperation with the European Capital of Culture 2017, Central Denmark Region and The City of Aarhus.
